You can’t say you’ve been to the Pink City unless you’ve seen Amber Fort. The fort is about 11 miles from the city center and is one of the best things to do in Jaipur. The Amber Palace was a home for the royal dynasty of Rajasthan, even though it had a name. Amber Fort is one of the most well-known locations to see in Jaipur.
The history of Amber Fort is really interesting; it goes back to 967 CE. Alan Sign, the leader of the Chanda tribe of Meenas, built the fort initially. They were also in charge of settling Amber. Jump forward to 1592, when Raja Man Singh of the Kachwaha dynasty, one of Emperor Akbar’s nine jewels (Navratna), erected Amber ka Kila on top of the existing building.
The fort was always being fixed up throughout the time of the Rajput kings. Sawai Jai Singh, a descendent of Raja Man Singh, completed the finishing changes to the Amber Fort and erected the Amber Palace as we know it today.
Maota Lake, which was originally the Amber Palace’s main source of water, is just next to the palace. The view of the lake and the beautiful green lawn make the location seem peaceful.
It has been in movies like Jodha Akbar, Baji Rao Mastani, Bhool Bhulaiya, and many more. To go inside the palace, you have to pay the Amber Forts’ entrance payment. There are a lot of stores around the fort that offer lovely Rajasthani crafts and household goods.
You have to see the dance of laser lights on the fort’s walls and hear tales from Rajputana times. This presentation provides a taste of Rajputana splendor. It features local mythology, folklore, and the great masters of folk music. The light and music display makes the dark environment seem like a dream.
The architecture of Amber Fort is quite colorful. The fort is a great example of Rajputana architecture. It was made of red and white sandstone. It is the ideal mix of Mughal style and Hindu architecture. The castle looks out over the Maota Lake, and a lovely, lush green garden makes it even more gorgeous. The garden of Amber Palace was inspired by the Mughal gardens that were built.
